Errrehh ladies and gents! Ready to walk through an enchanted forest, come hike on PR6! The PR6 series is amazing! 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 are like walking through a fairytale, and they also connect within each other if you want to loop around or check out other trails! Beautiful levadas, waterfalls, natural streams and stunning views! Keep in mind when the sun goes down so you don't have to race against the sun because it does take a couple hours to do any of the PR hikes. Get out and enjoy the beautiful enchanted forests of Madeira!

Magical hike. Would recommend doing both 25 Fontes and Risco. We got here at about 8am and it was lovely and peaceful with only one other car but by the time we were leaving it was super packed with barely anywhere to park. The total hike stating from the carpark to 25 Fontes then to Risco and back was 12km but as others mentioned you can pay for a shuttle back to the carpark from the cafe.

This was a lovely hike! We did both PR6 and PR6.1 to be able to see both waterfalls, and honestly, the slight deviation to for PR6.1 is so short and flat that it’s definitely worth it. The hike begins with a fairly steep descent of about 2km. It’s all on cement roads, so there is also a shuttle service that can take you up/down, or both, for €5 each way (it might be less as a package deal). At the bottom, you reach the bifurcation to start a few hikes. There was a man checking that everyone had booked to do the hike - it’s a €4.5 fee, but you might need to go to the cafe to get internet to get in because it has to be done online and it seemed other people were struggling. The path is fairly flat to get to the bifurcation between PR6 and PR6.1. It’s also fairly flat to do .1, but so worth it. Once you come back from .1, it’s a descent down somewhat steep stairs to reach the 25 fontes. The rest of the way is by a levada (a water carrying construction), which can get quite narrow. We had to wait for a big group of people to go by at one point as it was not possible to go in and out at the same time. The last bit is uni-directional, and there is one path to go towards the 25 fontes and one to leave. We saw a few people going the wrong way, and it would have been very uncomfortable as the path is narrow. The final destination was lovely - although very crowded. The whole hike took about 3 hours, but we skipped the last ascent and took a shuttle. The cafe was lovely and warm (and has a toilet for clients!).
