PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

The Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to take your scuba skills to the next level while letting you enjoy a variety of underwater adventures. Unlike the Open Water course, this program focuses less on exams and more on hands-on experience, skill development, and exploration. You’ll learn essential skills like underwater navigation using a compass, improving buoyancy control, and safely diving to depths below 18 meters. Throughout the course, you’ll complete five open water dives under the guidance of a PADI instructor, including three specialty dives. These specialty dives let you sample exciting options like deep diving, night diving, underwater photography, wreck exploration, and more—giving you a taste of different diving disciplines before committing to a full specialty course.

By the end of the Advanced Open Water Diver course, you’ll gain confidence in your diving abilities and earn additional certification that opens doors to more advanced diving experiences. You can even combine this course with the PADI Enriched Air Diver program to earn your first specialty certification (with additional fees). To join, you need to be at least 12 years old, have a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent), be able to swim, and be in good physical health. This course is perfect for divers who want to expand their skills, explore new underwater environments, and enjoy the thrill of discovering what lies beneath the surface with increased confidence and safety.
