The Mt. Wilson trail is closed for the foreseeable future due to the Eaton fire. It is not safe to enter. Thanks to all the volunteers diligently working to fix this historic trail! When the trail is open again: you can climb all the way to the summit of Mt Wilson, about 17 miles round trip, over 5,000 of vertical climbing. I don’t recommend taking a dog all the way to the top, but there are other worthy stops along the way if your dog is in good condition and is trained in navigating single track trails.

I like the Mount Wilson hiking trail. I have come here a couple of times. I actually found this hiking trail on google Maps 3D. I was searching for a high peak mountain to hike up on google Maps 3D years ago. When I was younger and ignorant, I went here with just a bottled water, thinking I could get to the top in like 1 hour 😅. I thought it was a piece of cake. And I did hike for more than 2 hours or more, and I didn't find the end to the hike. I did not feel tired, but I was getting hungry. And I found some nice hikers who gave me some snacks to eat. So I went back down. Because I was crazy to come here with just a bottled water 😅. I hope it gets open soon. Now I noticed it's still closed as of July 5, 2025.

The Mt. Wilson Trail is a challenging yet rewarding hike that requires careful preparation. We recently took on this trail, and it was quite an experience. The key to a successful hike here is to come prepared: bring plenty of water and electrolytes, as you'll need them to stay hydrated and energized. Good shoes are a must, as the terrain can be rough and uneven in places. A good night's rest before the hike is essential to tackle the elevation gain and distance. Make sure to pack some snacks or a light meal, as you'll need the energy boost along the way. The views from the trail are absolutely fantastic and make the effort worthwhile. We recommend taking your time and not rushing; it's more important to enjoy the journey and stay safe. For us, reaching the top was a major accomplishment, even though we aren't the fastest hikers. Planning the hike according to your pace and fitness level is crucial. Overall, the Mt. Wilson Trail offers a great workout and stunning scenery, making it a memorable adventure for those who are well-prepared.
