Our 'Sunset on Pen y Fan' Walk offers a 6km hike with 460m of ascent on well-maintained paths, leading to the summit of Pen y Fan—the highest peak in South Wales and all of southern Britain. This iconic Welsh mountain rewards walkers with expansive views that, on a clear day, stretch south to Devon and Somerset and north to the rugged outline of Cadair Idris. As you walk, you'll be surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with the rich colours of early evening casting dramatic shadows across the landscape.
Guided safely by an experienced leader, you'll arrive at the summit just in time to (hopefully) witness a breathtaking sunset over the Black Mountain range to the west and the Black Mountains to the east. While nature doesn’t always promise a perfect sunset, the journey itself is always worth it. Whether the skies blaze with colour or remain quietly overcast, the experience offers a peaceful, rewarding time in great company and unforgettable views from the top of the world—at least, the top of South Wales.
