Really enjoyed my Sydney Harbour trial flight with Said from SFA. Very experienced with handling the weather and entering into the controlled flight zone near the city. Very beginner friendy also, where I did quite a bit of flying myself including 2 radio calls.
Absolutely terrible experience — avoid Sydney Flying Academy at all costs. I tried to book with them for over five weeks. Sent emails, called three times — once from overseas, once from Melbourne, and once from Sydney. Each time they said they’d call back. No one did until the morning of the flight. They confirmed my booking for 2 PM the next day, so I spent two hours commuting and arrived 30 minutes early. Only then did they text me saying it was cancelled due to turbulence. I get that weather happens — but why not notify me earlier? I wasted 3–4 hours of transport for absolutely nothing. The actual flying experience with Patrick was just as bad. He said maybe ten sentence total from start to finish. No intro, no explanation, no guidance — just complete silence. I had no idea what was going on until I started asking questions myself. Zero passion. Don’t spend your money here. There are better, more responsive, and respectful flight schools out there.
