Day Hike: Pen y Fan By Routes Less Travelled

Join us for a unique and exhilarating small-group hike to the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in Southern Britain. This 11km route with 600m of ascent avoids the usual crowded paths, taking you along quiet trails and hidden corners of the Brecon Beacons. Starting by following the River Taff to its source, you'll traverse scenic landscapes, tackle steep climbs to Corn Du and Pen y Fan, and be rewarded with sweeping views stretching to Devon, Somerset, and even Cadair Idris on clear days. Along the way, your guide will point out geological wonders like the fossil beach and ensure plenty of photo opportunities to capture your mountain adventure.

After summiting Pen y Fan, the adventure continues "off piste" as we descend remote slopes—sometimes hilariously sliding down on our backs! We'll visit the serene Llyn Cwm Llwch and uncover its local legends, before making our way to the poignant memorial of Tommy Jones, where your guide will share the true and touching story behind it. Our final summit, Yr Gyrn, rounds off a day of mountain exploration as we descend back to the starting point. Led by a knowledgeable and entertaining guide, this hike offers solitude, scenic beauty, and memorable moments far from the crowds.
