Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, stands out for its wide mix of architectural styles, from Mauresque buildings blending Moorish and Art Deco influences to modern structures shaping its diverse skyline. This guided tour with an architect explores key areas such as the city centre and the Old Medina, beginning with the Marché Central, designed by Pierre Bousquet and built between 1918 and 1919. A short walk leads to Cinema Rialto (1929), one of the city’s best Art Deco landmarks, followed by Place des Nations Unies, a major square featuring a tram station, shops, hotels and the iconic sculpture by Jean-François Zevaco.

We continue along Boulevard Félix Houphouët-Boigny to reach Casa-Port Railway Station (2015), a modern transport hub linking Casablanca with Tangier. The tour then stops at La Sqala Café, a charming restaurant set inside an old fortress with cannons and an Andalusian-style garden. The visit concludes at the breathtaking Hassan II Mosque (1993), one of the largest mosques in the world, featuring a 210-metre minaret and exquisite craftsmanship using materials from across Morocco, inspired by traditional Moorish architecture.
