Paris: The Champs-Élysées

The Champs-Élysées, one of the most celebrated avenues in the world, has served as Paris’s grand horizontal axis since the 17th century. Stretching seventy meters wide, the avenue begins at Place de la Concorde and extends to the iconic Arc de Triomphe. Once a simple woodland path, it was transformed into a royal and imperial route, later becoming a symbol of prestige and elegance. After the 1855 World Fair, the Champs-Élysées blossomed into a favored gathering place for the wealthy and stylish, remaining a luxurious hotspot until the mid-20th century. Today, it stands as one of Paris’s busiest commercial districts, alive with cafés, boutiques, cultural venues, and architectural splendor.
