The Part Dieu district is Lyon’s most significant business hub, home to the city’s major concentration of office buildings, its main railway station, and an expansive commercial center. Your guide, who has designed several projects in this area, has played an active role in its evolution over the years as the district undergoes one of the most ambitious transformations in France. Under the direction of the Lyon Planning Agency, an immense redevelopment program is progressing, including the near-total reconstruction of the train station and the strategic opening of the formerly enclosed shopping mall toward the public realm. The tour begins with a visit to the Maison du Projet de la Part Dieu, where a large-scale model offers a comprehensive overview of current and future developments. Your guide designed one of the pioneering projects of this renewal, an office building that received the First National Prize of the FNPC in 2015, situated near the Departmental Archives designed by Bruno Dumetier. The district now features two new office towers by Chaix & Morel and Valode & Pistre, along with remarkable works by Christian de Portzamparc and Franck Hamoutène, symbolizing a fresh architectural horizon. In the Buire Quarter, new residential developments emerge, including two competition-winning projects designed by your guide.
