The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Sail Preparation Course is an intensive five-day advanced training program designed for experienced sailors preparing for the demanding Yachtmaster Offshore practical examination. This qualification represents one of the highest standards in recreational and professional seamanship.


Delivered by an expert RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, the course focuses on refining advanced skills such as yacht handling, passage planning, pilotage, tidal navigation, collision regulations, and crew leadership. Participants are assessed continuously in real-time sailing conditions to ensure exam readiness.


The program is designed for sailors who already possess strong theoretical and practical foundations, including competence in COLREGS, navigation techniques, and tidal calculations. By the end of the five-day preparation course, candidates are fully aligned with Yachtmaster Offshore exam standards and ready for the subsequent two-day practical assessment. Just completed the 13 week yachtmaster course with irish offshore sailing. Thougherly enjoyed the whole course. The quality of the training is to a very high standard. Ronans enthuasm and passion for sailing and teaching raised the bar and brought out the best in all the students. The Course was very very well run and a fantastic experience giving myself and others a new exciting career path. Highly recommend doing the 13 week course!!

I completed the 13 week yachtmaster course with IOS. The tuition was to a very high standard throughout the course, leaving us very prepared for the final exam. All instructors were very knowledgeable and passionate about sailing. Special thanks to Ronan who's enthusiasm and love of sailing was a highlight of the course. Would highly recommend this school for either Yachmaster or any of their sailing courses :) Thanks guys!

Just completed 13 week yachtmaster course with IOS, also did courses in the past. Consistently high quality tuition, with instructors who are passionate about sailing and passing their knowledge. Special call out to Ronan, the school owner who puts his heart and sole into everything he touches. The boats are well used, so don’t expect 5 star luxury, the money is put into the things that matter, quality instruction, the food and safety.
