Maybe not the deepest canyon in the world, but for sure the views are spectacular and if you are lucky you might also see some condors “levitate” 😊
Spectecular View and impressive Landscape. A must visit when in Arequipa. Just expect a Long drive. We did a Tour and started at 3 am. But it ist worth it.

Massive landscape. One of the best views I ever had. We walk from the city of Cabanaconde to Lodge Llahuar. Which took us around 6 hours. Take enough food and water with you. Mininum is 2.5L per person. The views are amazing, it feels like you are walking in a beautiful painting every step. You need to pay 70 sol for entrance.
Off the scale scenery, great hiking and friendly locals. Generally safe to hike alone provided you are physically fit, can navigate and apply a bit of common sense. Finding accommodation was straightforward and the food was good
This is more of a tour for Spanish speakers than English speakers
You should be prepared for a very long journey when booking this activity. The Colca Canyon is very beautiful to see, it is worth the detour. Downside: we paid for part of the trip using the app itself. We are still asked for 70 soles per person + a restaurant of 40 soles for the meal excluding drinks. The restaurant is not worth 40 soles at all!! The manager barely gives us our change by the way. The day was longer than expected given the schedule. Activities are planned (again for a fee of course) if you don't want to do them you have to wait for the others for 1 hour. Basically we paid for a breakfast consisting of 2 pieces of bread, an endless journey with unnecessary stops. If you really want to see the colca canyon it is better to rent a car. Saving time and money !!
