We just returned from our 4 day Amazon tour, and loved it. Eddy made the entire experience five-star experience. From the moment we started coordinating, Eddy was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. He was completely flexible with our schedule and ensured every detail was handled seamlessly. His guidance in the jungle was phenomenal. Eddy is exceptionally knowledgeable about the wildlife, plants, and local ecology. His passion for the Amazon shines through, and he made every sighting exciting and educational. Crucially, his English is perfect, making communication effortless and allowing us to ask detailed questions and truly connect with the experience. On top of his expertise, Eddy is simply a very nice and patient person who clearly cares about his guests' comfort and enjoyment. The food was fresh, authentic, and delicious, exceeding our expectations for a remote lodge. Speaking of the lodge, it was exactly what we were looking for. It was basic, clean, and comfortable, offering a genuinely authentic feeling without unnecessary frills. We would book this again in a heartbeat!
EDDY IS THE GUY YOU WANNA BE IN THE AMAZON WITH! We booked the tour through WhatsApp with Jungle James. Communication was not the easiest thing (since we had to write in Portuguese…and Google translate was our savior) but we managed! To our surprise, a pickup with Sergio - a really fun guy - from the airport to our hotel was included, although the tour started the next day and members of our group arrived at different times. We read online positive reviews about Jungle James but were mesmerised by the presence of Eddy instead. He’s a young and very passionate guy who speaks a great English and really made our stay worth 5 stars! The organisation of the tour itself was good! Arrived on the first day after a stop at the “meet of the waters”, fishing picanhas, a stunning sunset and caiman searching with the most beautiful starry sky on our heads. Second day started at dawn - did not disappoint - then we went in the jungle to learn about the typical flora and fauna. We booked two nights and decided to spend the second one immersed in the jungle. Even though we weren’t convinced at the beginning, we really enjoyed the experience! We moved from the lodge to this camp in the afternoon and started preparing for the fire, cooked a great meal, organised the hammocks and slept in a very dark but noisy jungle! An experience of connection with nature really humbling that everyone should experience once in a lifetime at least! Third day we had breakfast in the jungle and went visit a local family and their nice garden. Only negative experience was the lodge itself. Being inside the Amazon forest, it’s predictable that the stay would be a bit wild but we didn’t expect this much insects. The bathroom too didn’t really work and especially the toilet couldn’t flush more than once in a few hours…and being four in the room, it was not the most comfortable thing! The room had air conditioning, unexpected but good. The food was okay and there was a water dispenser to refill our water bottles which was good too. We had some small problems with the boat but everything was solved in very little time. Eddy, the guide, is the one who made the real difference! He is a very nice guy who speaks a great English, really passionate about his job and the Amazon forest who made us enjoy every bit of the experience. He really taught us a lot about surviving in the jungle while making us laugh a lot! We were also told the tour we chose to do was the most authentic and we can confirm the stay was not touristy at all. A humbling nice experience I really suggest you to do!
While this Amazon trip was amazing, I want to give a special shoutout to our guide, Eddy. Don’t be fooled by his young age, he’s incredibly knowledgeable, very polite, energetic, and truly passionate about the Amazon forest. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. While he of course can’t control wildlife sightings, he made every effort possible to spot animals for us. Thanks to his sharp eye and deep understanding of the forest, we saw so much wildlife and learned a lot on the animals, insects, plants and the forest's rich history. He started as our guide, but I feel like I’ve also made a friend. I’m genuinely excited to see where life takes him! Keep up the great work Eddy!
