Its height, from the pedestal (Padmasana) to the Siraspata (Flame of Wisdom), is approximately 11.36 meters (38 feet 10 inches). * ⛏️ Construction: * It is carved from a single large granite rock (monolith). * A unique feature is that the statue remains attached to the main rock face by a narrow strip of rock at the back. * It is created in the Samabhanga posture (equally bent), depicting the figure standing straight with the body weight distributed evenly on both feet. * 🙏 Mudras (Hand Gestures): * The raised right hand displays the Abhaya Mudra (blessing/fearlessness). * The left hand holds the robe in the Katakahasta Mudra (a posture where the hand is clenched, often used to hold something). * 👑 History: * It is believed to have been built by King Dhatusena in the 5th century CE.
