Just beyond the hills of Rieti, an extraordinary wine experience invites you to connect with the land, history, and flavors that define this region. The journey begins in a family vineyard that has been carefully nurtured over generations, where every step reflects the care and memory of those who tended the soil before. Set between the Rieti basin and the slopes of Monte Terminillo, the vineyards thrive at high altitude, bathed in sunlight and cooled by mountain breezes, with soils rich in minerals and organic matter. Here, grapes flourish under sustainable cultivation, free from chemical herbicides and synthetic fertilizers, while cover cropping and hand labor preserve the biodiversity and vitality of the land. As you explore the carefully tended vines, you will learn how each plot has been matched with grape varieties best suited to the local microclimate and soil, revealing a profound respect for the natural environment that sustains exceptional wines. The experience continues in the historic underground cellar, a place that has preserved the region’s winemaking heritage since the fifteenth century. Restored and serene, the stone rooms house sparkling wines that age naturally, capturing the essence of traditional methods, and oak casks that develop depth and character in the red wines. Guests will also discover the rediscovered indigenous grape, Cesanese of Castelfranco, celebrated for its ruby red hue and notes of wild berries and spices. The journey concludes in a dedicated tasting space, where four exquisite wines are paired with artisanal cured meats produced on site, creating a sensory experience that connects each sip and bite to the land and its history. Guided storytelling enriches every moment, making this a perfect opportunity for wine enthusiasts and curious travelers alike to experience the richness of Rieti through its vineyards, cellar, and culinary traditions.

A truly wonderful experience at one and only winery in Rieti🍇 Wandering through the vineyards, learning about the craft, then stepping into a historical cellar beneath an old church with breathtaking views and a few charming cats🐾 Finished off with exceptional wine tasting, delicious local food and pure Italian charm 🇮🇹🍷

From the beginning… we didn’t have reservation for wine tour, but they were so nice to organized amazing tour for me and my sister and make it so special! Between interesting facts and wine yards, wild animals and friendliest kittens we were lost in centuries and forget about all problems… we enjoyed wine tasting in garden and food were so delicious that after we couldn’t resist and went to restaurant! That also above expectations!!!! Don’t wait book your experience now! We also thinking to stay on the future in unique hotel they have. Had an amazing day! Thank you 🙏

Excellent experience at Le Macchie! A short drive from Rome, on country roads, to the “middle of Italy”, and the city of Rieti. We were greeted by our friendly, and knowledgeable host Giacomo, who treated us like family and took great pride in explaining to us the operations of the vineyard. We were shown the beautiful grounds, the wine tanks, the production area, the historic church cellar, and the uniquely designed wine barrel country relais. We were then served deliciously cured meat, from the farms humanely raised black pigs, and given a plentiful tasting of some unique and wonderful wines. The experience was a 10 out of 10, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a day trip from Rome, as well as a relaxing overnight get away. Thank you again Giacomo and Le Macchie, for a lovely afternoon!

We booked the Wine & Food Experience tour and were pleasantly surprised. Even though Cantina Le Macchie is a relatively young and small winemaker, the tour itself is quite interesting. Our guide was Giacomo (who also speaks English) a very pleasant young man who knows a lot about the company and the wine making process. The Cantina has some interesting and rare wines (Cesenese for eg) that were a pleasure to try. The location were they produce their Spumante (Metodo Classico) is situated in the ancient cellar underneath the church of Castelfranco. A must see! This specific tour also comprises a lunch at the Foresta restaurant nearby - something we can highly recommend.

Great boutique vineyard to have a wine tasting and tour. Also came with tasters of cured meats from their local pigs. Our tour guide Loredana was brilliant. Highly recommend this place. Excellent value for money
