Before arrival, we were charged twice (for a total of $6000 USD for a 2-day stay) due to a system error on the Hotels.com site. Upon arrival, we explained the circumstances to the hotel staff. We told them the double-booking was unintentional, we cancelled the extra room well over 24 hours before check-in, and, furthermore, we would be hosting additional family members who joined last-minute. During check-in, they never offered us the option of utilizing the extra booking for our guests (that would have nice!) but instead charged us another $2600 USD in resort fees. Now we were at almost $9000 USD for a 2-day stay in one room and we hadn't even gotten to incidental charges yet. But it was my wife's birthday--we felt stuck, we decided to keep our stay, and we hoped to work it out with the hotel later. Surely, they wouldn't want to charge their high-paying guests for services not rendered despite their rigid policies. We were wrong. During and after our stay, we pleaded our case to the hotel staff who sent us after Hotels.com and refused to return our money. Of course, Hotels.com claimed their hands were tied as well and told us to take it up with the hotel. After failed disputes via the credit card company, we've learned the hotel has full discretion to grant a refund. We're just asking for a return of the 3K we were charged for a room we never used. Unfortunately until now they have stubbornly stuck to their no-refund policy. This is just greedy. What was meant to be a beautiful gesture for my wife's birthday turned into a pain in the neck.
The resort was absolutely amazing with the best service I have ever experienced. Every single staff member was incredibly helpful. The plunge pool villa was perfect along with the food at each of the restaurants. I would recommend Cayo Levantado for anyone looking to relax. The place is a hidden gem and hope to return one day.
My stay at Cayo Levantado was absolutely superb. After a chaotic travel day, I was welcomed with open arms and a refreshing welcome drink. The moment I stepped into Cayo’s oasis, all my worries quickly melted away. Every request was met with a gracious, “It’s my pleasure.” My ambassadors, Lorena and Rafaela, elevated my experience by providing daily itineraries filled with curated activities that perfectly aligned with my interests. The food was fresh and delicious, and the hospitality extended both on and off the resort made me feel truly at home. This was my first solo trip to the Dominican Republic, and I’m so glad I made the decision to book with Cayo Levantado. I left feeling renewed, cared for, and excited to return.
We had an incredible experience at the resort. The ambassadors we so helpful and attentive. Lorena and Rafaela were outstanding. The food was delicious. Sometimes all-inclusive food is mid but Cayo was excellent. The drinks were fabulous. Top shelf alcohol. The resort was basically empty due to the season. The beach was incredible. Loved every minute. We stayed in the beach villa 4103. I would recommended staying on the beach. The pools were beautiful. The landscaping, foliage and environment were stunning. We have stayed at many beautiful places, but Cayo Levantado was one of the top resorts. We can’t wait to come back.
