This lesson is designed for intermediate paddlers looking to improve their speed and technique. During the session, you’ll focus on fine-tuning your paddle strokes, optimizing your stance, and refining your technique for greater efficiency on the water. You’ll learn advanced paddle mechanics, including proper stroke length, cadence, and how to generate more power with each stroke. The lesson also covers strategies for handling choppy waters and using your body to maintain speed and control. By the end of the session, you’ll be paddling with increased precision, power, and overall confidence.
The one-hour lesson includes a land demonstration followed by time on the water in the calm channel of Liberty Station, San Diego, behind the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. Paddle board rentals are provided through our partnership with West Coast Paddle Sports, though you are welcome to bring your own board. The experience is private, so you receive focused attention from your instructor, who will also capture action photos and videos to review after the session. Human PFDs are provided, and life jackets are available for non-swimmers. Participants are encouraged to bring sunscreen, a towel or change of clothes, and wear athletic clothing or a swimsuit. Water shoes are optional, but paddling barefoot is highly recommended.
