An entertaining tour from the Santa Bárbara neighborhood to Aliaga, with a visit to the town and its castle.

It is a beautiful area, but we found the river quite choppy and dirty water because a few days ago it had rained a lot. It's a shame not to have been able to enjoy it 100%

A hidden gem in the wildest part of Teruel. The tranquility and beauty of the place are surprising, especially considering the moderately difficult hike, with some sections more challenging than others. You might even encounter wild mountain goats leaping just a few feet away as if nothing were amiss. Five stars because it remains untouched and is truly beautiful; the effort is well worth it. The trail begins at the dam of the abandoned power plant, on the left, which, by the way, is worthy of a paranormal investigation.

Length: Approx. 8.7 km. Difficulty: Medium-High The route can be circular through the Vagonetas Tunnel or returning by regional road. Start: In the Santa Bárbara neighborhood, from the Municipal Hostel along the right bank of the La Val or Aliaga Rivers, at any point that leads to the La Val River. In the Dos Aguas area, continue along the banks of the Guadalope River to the Hermitage of the Sanctuary of La Zarza. There, you pass the Municipal Washhouse and access the path under the bridge. Following the right bank of the Guadalope River, crossing the narrows of La Aldehuela, you reach the reservoir of the Thermal Power Plant. You pass by the dam and climb the road that connects to the La Aldehuela neighborhood. For the circular route passing through the Tunnel of the Vagonetas, cross the Aldehuela neighborhood on the left side of the garage buildings, climb to the top, once at the top, take the path on the left side, you have to reach the Tunnel on the west side where you can see the town of Aliaga, then return along the indicated path towards the road, Campos/Aliaga junction.

It's a 12-km walk from start to finish, passing through Aliaga, from where it's easily accessible. The route from the Virgen de la Zarza to the dam is currently fully passable as of summer 2020.
