We did the 1 night, 2 day cruise. Overall a good cruise, the staff on the boat were great, and booking through their office was really smooth. Luckily nobody on our boat wanted to do karaoke, so our evening was quiet. Really enjoyed the kayaking in the morning, and a great sunset view from the boat. Glad we went to Lan Ha bay, as I've heard Ha Long bay is even busier. Unfortunately there was a lot of plastic in the water. It was everywhere, and really sad to see that nobody seems to care about it or is trying to fix it. It would be great if Sena Cruises acknowledged this issue and started doing something about it, however small. It really put a dampener on the trip, and made us question how much plastic we are creating while travelling. Also they added a 10% VAT tax to our drinks when we settled the bill at the end of the cruise. Please just include this in the price on the menu, it doesn't need to be separate, it just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when finishing the trip.

Overall, this was a really fun experience and I would recommend the 2-night option to one. That said, it’s worth knowing what to expect. This isn’t a luxury cruise, in fact, most of the boats seem fairly similar in quality, activities, and structure, and the whole experience is quite touristy. The schedule is full-on with very little downtime, so don’t expect a relaxing, romantic escape. Think 8am tannoy announcements for kayaking, a 10:45am lunch on the second day (because the boat’s permit runs out at noon), and if you book the 3-day cruise, you’ll actually be transferred to a different boat for that extra day. The boats tend to stay around the same area, so while the scenery is spectacular, don’t expect to cover much ground. For us, the Cat Ba Island stop was the highlight, and we would have loved more time there, it looked stunning! But again, the activities were quite packed in. What really made the trip special was the guides and staff. The service on board was exceptional: extremely friendly, welcoming, and always creating a lovely atmosphere. Despite the intensity of the schedule, it ended up being a really positive and memorable experience. One thing to keep in mind: people on the 2-night cruise share the same boat as those on the 1-night cruise. I had expected the second night to take us somewhere different, but you essentially loop the same area. If I could go back, I’d probably spend a bit more on a higher-quality boat. This was the most expensive stay of our Vietnam trip, and honestly, not the best. That said, Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth seeing. If you can, visit Cat Ba Island, I’d even recommend staying a night there.

We spent 3 days 2 nights with Sena Cruises. All round it was a terrific experience. The cabins are nicely appointed, great to have the private balcony. The staff were all so nice and helpful, it is genuine hospitality. It was a good range of activities, the day trip to Cat Ba was great!! And the food - yum yum yum yum yum!!! Fresh, balanced flavour, and all presented so beautifully- kudos to the chef! Transfer to / from Hanoi was easy and comfortable. Highly recommend Sena Cruises for a smaller boat experience 💕

On the whole we had an ok time for the 24 hours that we were on the cruise. The food was mostly delicious and the staff were attentive. As people have said it’s very full on but that’s to be expected when you book. The thing that spoilt it for us was the karaoke on the evening. When we booked the cruise we were specifically told it was not a party boat and it would be a nice, relaxing time. However for the whole evening drunk people were belting out songs at full volume (as you’ll be to hear in the video). People were also jumping up and down so much that one of the light fittings fell out of the ceiling. Therefore the noise took over the whole boat and meant we couldn’t really sit anywhere on the top deck or our balcony to relax as it was just an absolute racket. Given that the company wants to provide a luxury, relaxing atmosphere, it doesn’t seem fair for the majority that don’t participate in karaoke to have to listen to this all night when they can’t escape from it. We did raise this issue with our guide the following morning but we were just told “better luck next time”. If you’re specifically not wanting to go on a party boat, I’d advise not booking with Sena Cruises.

Did the two day one night tour and had the best time. You start by taking a little tender boat to the bigger boat, about 30 minute ride. Lots of activities that you can do, or you can relax at the top deck with a drink. The small boat ride on one day is a little bit of a tourist trap to see the caves (you can only go into the caves if the tide is high enough). The rooms are spacious considering the size of the boat and the staff were friendly and helpful. The leader was named Sunday and he truly made the entire experience so wonderful. He went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt welcomed and had what they needed. He lead all activities and made everything so much fun! I wish all tour guides could be like Sunday. Would definitely recommend this boat & Sunday to anyone. Hope to be back one day!
