Halong & Lan Ha Bay Luxury Cruise 3D2N with Meals & Activities

We booked a two day cruise on halong bay with this agency by the website Expedia. Definitely the most disappointing activity we've had in vietnam... The prices on the boat were outrageous. 100k for a beer, 1 to 3 millions for a bottle of wine and you need to pay to get water or a simple filtered coffee during the meals. We managed to buy a cheaper bottle of wine from a lady that came to us on a little boat but guess what... they charged us an hidden corkage fee of 200k at the end of the cruise... The food was okay but still, they did not systematically refill the plates at the buffet when a dish was finished, so we were not able to take all the food we wanted and there was often a lack of fruit for example. The room was as expected with a nice view of the halong bay (fyi there is a lot of food trash floating on the bay, probably thrown out by cruise ships, which takes away a lot of beauty from the place). On the other hand, the mini fridge was broken as was a ceramic tile in the bathroom on which we could have cut ourselves. Wifi was poor, only worked half the time and was not available in the rooms...only in the common area. Finally, we arrived on the boat 45 minutes later than planned. Obviously, when it came to departure, we respected the schedule to the minute, ensuring that for a "two-day" cruise we only spent 20 hours on the boat. In conclusion, the only thing "luxury" about this cruise were the prices they ask us to pay on the boat... Would'nt recommand at all. I've heard that the prices of beverages were a lot cheaper on other ships, which could have improved our experience... Fyi, this is my first negative review ever on an app like this. I generally have a high tolerance threshold and am aware of the difficulties of meeting the requirements of each client. on the other hand, here, I simply had the impression that they wanted to empty my wallet as much as possible.

The actual boat, on board crew, food and services were great! They are the only reason this place got 3 stars instead of 0. The disappointment was all in the manager's lack of organisation. We checked in with them the night before, only to be messed around regarding check in times at the very last minute. If you go with this company, ensure you check in with them 24 hours before your tour date (don't rely on standard protocols to apply here). We also felt very stressed sending photos of our passports to a stranger, especially when the manager sounded very demanding due to poor english. The bus was very nice, however we were dropped off at the wrong location (wrong by approx 1-2km). We were given no explanation of where to go, except when the driver pointed at the wrong building, insisting we go inside. We made contact with the manager, who said he would send someone to collect us. We sat in the sun for 45 minutes waiting to be collected whilst thinking we had surely been scammed. The manager's communication was very poor and he could not offer us any helpful information. This was a very horrible and stressful way to start our cruise and left a very bad taste in our mouths. This is a massive shame, as the rest of the cruise was brilliant and so much better than expected (especially with such a poor start). I feel sad to be giving this company a poor review, as the staff on board were incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Overall of 2 days 1 night trip, everything was well organized from the pick up, drop off and all the activities. Only one big disappointment and very bad behavior is, for religious people be aware that they're serving you normal meat and not religious!!! (for Muslims and Jewish). Even though you mention it in advance, they lie to you!!! There is no trust in this people they only care about money!! I'm super mad and disappointed, they told me that their meat is supplied from a Halal restaurant in Hanoi, when I went back to hanoi and went to that restaurant, the restaurant manager confirmed that they don't supply any meat to anyone.. Also if you are 3, expect that the 3 person will be sleeping on a small sleeping bank with a very hard bed
