I love this hike. It’s very challenging and not for beginners. The grind has been upgraded over the years with steps but there are still some very rocky, steep sections. Bring water, good shoes, money for the gondola ride down, plus a bit of courage. The views at the top are spectacular. Best time to come is early morning to avoid the rush.

This is a relentless and well-maintained trail. It's a true mountain climb—every single step is uphill, so be prepared to sweat no matter your fitness level. The trail is excellent, with clear markers showing how much you've completed and how much is left. The fact that they have AEDs installed at intervals is a great and reassuring touch. The view at the top is nice, but the real reward is the feeling of accomplishment. Overall, it's a perfect training ground for trail runners, but for most people, it's probably a one-time challenge.

Challenging trail in terms of endurance and many parts of the trail are quite rugged, basically just rock and branches, so very easy to trip and fall. Also most of the steps are quite steep. Being lots of water and some food if you need, and plan how quickly you're using it up! There are markers at each quarter, and AEDs have been installed at each quarter, which I think is a new thing, but great to have! If you're too tired by the 1st quarter mark, you can go back down, but after that it's one way up. No restrooms along the way. Not much resting space either except on the stairs, and not much in terms viewpoints along the way. But it's not too crowded ever, so resting on the stairs themselves of just fine. It's very rewarding though once you get to the top! You have access to the mountain and peak chairlift for free, but you do have to buy a download ticket on the gondola down. Overall a challenging but rewarding trail. (And I'm no expert hiker by any means)

Amazing Challenge with Spectacular Views! The Grouse Grind is an absolute must-do if you're in Vancouver and enjoy hiking! It's a tough climb, no doubt – about 2.9 kilometers straight up with over 850 meters of elevation gain. The trail itself is well-maintained and, while steep, offers plenty of moments to take a breather and enjoy the lush surroundings. The views at the top are absolutely beautiful! On a clear day, you can see all of Vancouver, the surrounding islands, and the mountains beyond. Definitely worth the effort. There’s also a small alpine village at the top with restaurants and places to rest after the hike. Definitely get an early start to beat the crowds and make sure to bring water and some snacks. The descent is often done via the Skyride gondola for an extra fun experience, but if you're feeling adventurous, you can hike back down via the BCMC trail.

If you're visiting Vancouver or live here and haven’t done the Grouse Grind yet—add it to your list! This trail is not for the faint of heart—it's a steep, intense workout from start to finish—but the sense of accomplishment at the top is 100% worth it. The forest is beautiful, the trail is well-maintained, and the views at the summit are breathtaking. Tip: Go early to avoid the crowds, wear good shoes, and bring water. And don’t forget—you take the gondola down (unless you’re wild enough to go back down the BCMC trail).
