Central Park carriage rides are not “romantic.” They are exploitation. I watched carriage horses working in the park and they did not appear relaxed or comfortable. These are living animals forced to work in a loud, crowded urban environment with constant stressors and unpredictable conditions. Before you pay for a ride, go see where these horses are kept: near W 37th St & 11th Ave. I walked by that area and saw carriage horses tethered inside a dark, garage-like concrete space with multiple carriages nearby. I recorded a short video (just a few seconds) and can share it. NYC needs to intervene and investigate this industry end-to-end, including stable conditions, working hours, rest practices, and enforcement. Then phase it out and ban it for good, with a humane retirement plan for the remaining horses. Do not support this. Do not pay for it.

We spend our 10th anniversary in New Your City. We wanted to do some memorable things one of which was a Horse Carriage ride in Central Park. Our driver Troy was fabulous, very knowledgeable and took some amazing pictures of us that we will cherish. Troy's house was Rosie, very sweet horse. They are several movies that have been filmed In Central Park and Troy told us about all of them. He was actually in a movie that was filmed in Central Park. Great memories were made.

Our driver Matt was great - knowledgeable about the area and friendly! Our carriage horse, Grace, was beautiful and very sweet! We highly recommend! This is hands down the best way to see and experience New York and the beautiful Central Park! We're definitely going to do this again!

Strawberry was so nice. My kids loved the ride, the horses, the information. It was a relaxing way to end a busy day of sightseeing

Matt was a wonderful guide on the carriage. He drove safely with the horse and was sweet to the horse and he also stopped and let us see different landmarks and he was very knowledgeable in explaining lots of stuff to us that we didn’t know. I would recommend him personally to anyone! This is a fun little thing to do, to get to know Central Park in New York City.
