Despite the weather I really liked this tour. You don’t feel like you are on a bus all day with regular stops to look at various landmarks. Paul was a great driver and guide driving very safely in the weather. He had a great way of sharing local information and was very personable. The seven sisters were worth a look and I would definitely recommend this tour. There was minimal walking and if you have limited fitness or mobility you could get away with virtually no walking (just with slightly restricted views).
A walk that requires some effort, but is well and truly worth it for the views, wildlife and flora you'll see along the way. Parking is fairly plentiful at Birling Gap and is free to those with National Trust membership (around £5 otherwise). There's also a cafe and toilet by the car park - the only ones we found on the route we took across the Seven Sisters to Cuckmere Haven and back, so you might want to use them before heading off! There are also relatively few benches along the way, so if you need to rest frequently, you'll need to take that into account. The walk itself is breathtakingly beautiful with so many places to just stop and admire the sheer scale of the cliffs, enjoy the wildflowers growing in the chalky soil, see the ponies near Cuckmere Haven and spot the various butterflies and birds going about their business. This was a low-cost but memorable afternoon out that will live long in the memory.
Legendary & Iconic Beach We came to Birling Gap as it is an iconic site to visit in the UK. It is a beautiful place & particularly nice to visit for families. The views are incredible & stunning. You can see the sea and the chalk cliffs and here the sound of the crashing waves. Access is not so easy but it is well worth it. At the end there is a parking (paid) but no other option. It is also a pebbly beach but that was not really an issue for us. Birling Gap is a great day out, well worth a visit and the perfect spot to come and see the seven sisters.
Last week, I visited this stunning sea beach with my family. The bank Holiday Monday and hot sunny weather brought lots of tourists in this area to enjoy a great day out and we did enjoy a lot. The National Trust nicely managed the site and we easily found a parking space near the visiting centre. You have to buy parking tickets and display (blue badge holders can park their car free). It is also connected by local transport. As we drove from London, after reaching Birling gap, we wanted to go to the toilet where at least 50 people were queuing, mostly women. After waiting for a few minutes in the queue, I found out that you can easily go for men's toilet without queuing. But I felt very bad for all the women waiting there. So, it would be great to have some extra toilets for women. There were no other alternatives other than National Trust managed toilet. The stony beach itself was beautiful (you need to take lots of stairs to get down to the sea level & it is not suitable for wheelchair users) and we walked along the cliffs. However, we couldn't proceed to the far right side of the beach as we found two men and one woman were lying down fully nude and enjoying sunshine. It was very embarrassing for us becausewe didn't expecting this in a family beach managed by National Trust. So, we return to the visiting centre, eat some snacks from there and walked over the cliffs instead. Finally, I must acknowledge that this is a very pleasant place tovisit (except suddenly looking at some nude people) and I would recommend everyone visiting this place.
