An English-speaking guide will meet you at 9:00 AM in Sofia and take you on a scenic 2-hour drive through varied landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and rivers, until you reach the Serbian border. After a short stop in the nearby town of Bosilegrad, once a key settlement of the former Yugoslavia, you will cross back into Bulgaria and continue toward Northern Macedonia, enjoying the changing scenery along the way.
Your first stop is the breathtaking Monastery of Osogovo, a 12th-century hilltop monastery with a fascinating history. Originally built as a Christian monastery, it was later converted into a mosque during Ottoman rule before being restored as a church. Nestled in the serene hills, the monastery offers a peaceful atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and stunning views of the surrounding landscape—perfect for a leisurely walk and photography.

The day went really well and we had a great experience. We were a group of six tourists, including the driver was seven. We all got along respectfully and had great conversations. Unfortunately border crossing was longer than expected and the weather was raining all day so we arrived back later, but our guide was great and didn’t pressure us. We had a great experience and saw a church in Serbia and a monastery in Macedonia after a great lunch. We also received very informative information from our driver/guide throughout the day.
