Join a guided tour of Istanbul’s magnificent Topkapı Palace, once the opulent seat of the Ottoman Empire for nearly four centuries. Unlike traditional European palaces, Topkapı unfolds as a vast complex of courtyards, pavilions, and kiosks—each echoing tales of power, intrigue, and royal life. With your expert guide, explore the grand quarters where sultans ruled, their families lived, and imperial ceremonies shaped the course of history. Wander through the Treasury, Holy Relics rooms, and terraced gardens overlooking the Bosporus, often overlooked by other tours. Then step into the Palace’s legendary Harem—the private world of the royal family, ruled by the Queen Mother—where you’ll trace the paths of concubines, eunuchs, and princes amid dazzling Iznik tiles, mother-of-pearl inlays, and Quranic calligraphy. Choose between an intimate small-group experience or a private tour for a captivating journey into the splendor and secrets of Ottoman court life.

Very exquisite and beautiful place. I like to fruits room very much too - that was where the king ate. Go early in the morning before the crowds come - because through the half day that I was there, the number of groups are many. I think there's more than a thousand people in the place during peak hours. And they just swarm the place.

Best for those who know or are fascinated by the history of Türkiye and its sultans as the Harem units represent their inner world. The internal decoration and intricate design is quite mesmerizing. Some sections are more crowed than others. During our visit last month the chamber of Hurrem Sultan was closed for renovation but we visited several of private rooms used by sultan, queen mother, his chefs, and the black eunuchs etc.

This part of the palace is an add on or included if you purchase the full ticket. The result is it is highly recommended to view the side palace for the King’s wife or concubines living in there. Showing the rooms, bathing, kitchen and living spaces.
Vadim

Contained more than 400 rooms, it was home to the sultan's mother, the Valide sultan, the concubines and wives of the sultan and the rest of his family, including children. The Imperial Hall is majestic, built in the late XVI century. Also among the highlights: The Twin Kiosk / Apartments of the Crown Prince, the Privy chambers and the Golden Road.

This section is inside the palace, and you will need a separate ticket to visit. If you’re already here, it’s definitely worth it. The place is beautiful, and there is so much history within these walls that it really makes you wonder. Take your time to walk through, and be prepared—there are many people at any hour of the day. If possible, start your visit early.

The guide, Sabih gave a great overview. I wish we’d had more time with him. Nothing that he could have done about it but the lines for the treasury were awful. Maybe we could have seen the treasury first thing in the morning before the crowds got there.

The guide was excellent. Very knowledgable, very engaging, very likeable personality. After tour was finished he gave us really good advice on what else we could see by ourselves. Ideal that we were left in the grounds to take as long as we liked to see more of the palace complex. Ideal size of group at 14. Descriptions stated small group with max of 14 and good to see that is exactly what we got. There is so much to see in the Topkapi Palace complex that you really need to dedicate most of the day to it so this single attraction tour was ideal and great value for money.
Geraldine

Very well organised. We got lots of information about the palace and harem helping bring it to life. Time at the end of the tour for us to see other areas for as long as we wanted.

I had a wonderful experience at Topkapi Palace. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making the visit both fun and informative. The palace is absolutely beautiful, filled with history and several museums that are worth exploring. I would definitely visit again — highly recommended!

The history that our guide shared was so very interesting. I am not a history buff, but I want to learn more as the result of this tour.
