Escape the city and discover the sun-drenched coastlines, whitewashed villages, and ancient stories of Sperlonga and Gaeta, two of Lazio’s most charming and lesser-known coastal towns. This private day tour combines Roman archaeology, seaside architecture, and breathtaking views for an experience that delights both the senses and the spirit. Begin in Sperlonga, a picturesque village perched on a rocky promontory, where winding alleys lead to terraces overlooking the sparkling sea. Stroll through the historical center with its artisan boutiques, quiet piazzas, and postcard-perfect viewpoints. Visit the Villa and Grotto of Emperor Tiberius, where Roman sculptures once adorned the sea-facing chambers of this imperial retreat, blending history and natural beauty in an unforgettable setting.

In the afternoon, continue along the coast to Gaeta, a fortified town layered with medieval and Renaissance heritage. Explore landmarks such as the Angevine-Aragonese Castle, the dramatic Split Mountain (Montagna Spaccata), and the 11th-century Cathedral of St. Erasmus, each offering unique glimpses into the town’s storied past. Enjoy time wandering its charming streets or pause for an aperitivo with panoramic views over the Gulf of Gaeta. Whether you are drawn to coastal scenery, historic sites, or tranquil seaside ambiance, this fully customizable private tour promises a serene, enriching, and memorable escape along Italy’s stunning Lazio coastline.

Personally I found nice its unusual shape that has several reasons and fantastic it's location. The tower was built in 1532 but then destroyed 3 times during wars. The current building dates back to eighteenth century. Since July 2023 the property has been transferred from a national agency to the municipality of Sperlonga. They plan to use for temporary exhibition, place for weddings and more. I didn't check if it was open, the parking fee €3 per hour or €20 per day was an invitation for me to dedicate little time to visiting the village and perhaps is the same for other people. I was here at the end of the summer season and you could breathe the air of the end of the season with the presence of few tourists. At the same time, other similar places with friendlier prices were teeming with foreign tourists.

Sperlonga is a very cute city... BUT parking there is crazy ! There is no free of charge parking lot! YOU MUST pay in every single piece of this little city! THAT ASIDE walking through the borgo is amazing, reach Torre Truglia from where you can have unique view , really fascinating !

Good option for beach near Rome. I discovered asking for a local person. Easy to reach (train + bus) and a good beach. No waves but good water and nice village. TIP: You can’t be without shirt in the village! You can be charged!
