We booked the stellenbosch family bike tour. The tour guide was really nice and adjusted well to the children regarding pace and what could be done. During this half a day tour you have 2 wine tasting one at Vredenheim, which was a lovely location. Children got 2 grape juice glasses and this quality was good, they make it with the same grapes as the wine. As adult you can choose between 5 more standard wines for the tasting or 3 premium wines, we choose the premium and liked the wines. The route to Vredenheim is mostly downhill, so that means the way back to Skilpadvlei is mostly uphill. Arrived in Skilpadvlei we had our 2nd tasting there. Kids also received a nice looking plateau of 3 drinks with some snacks. The wine tasting here was disappointing due to the experience, we got served 4 wines, but no mentioning of which wines we received or a nice story about them. I would have also not minded if we received some snacks with it, or at least offered to pay for some snacks. Also be mindful to check when they close for lunch orderings, by the time we finished the wine tasting it was 13.45 and we could not order lunch anymore. All in all we had a nice bike ride and enjoyed it, but not sure if it's worth the price of 1150 pp, also knowing that the wine tastings where only (80 + 40 ZAR) if you would go there yourself.

Our Bike & Wine tour in Franschhoek was truly a wonderful experience — the perfect mix of scenic beauty, local flavor, and warm hospitality. Cycling through the breathtaking landscapes of the valley, surrounded by mountains and vineyards, felt like riding through a postcard. It’s an experience that stays with you — not only for the views but for the atmosphere created by the incredible tour leaders. We were a group of seven (my family), guided by Carlo and his fantastic team, who went above and beyond to make every moment comfortable, informative, and genuinely enjoyable. They explained everything along the way, from local wine culture to the history of the estates, always with a smile and great energy. The highlight was definitely our first tasting at La Bri winery — elegant wines, beautiful surroundings, and the perfect way to start the journey. This is an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Franschhoek. Wine tasting is always enjoyable, but doing it by bike in such a setting makes it truly special.
