This really is an excellent tour. Lots of information both about the town and it's quirks, not just about Shakespeare. Owen knows his stuff and is welding and friendly. He has clearly delivered this tour so many times that it's not just him sharing information but a cleverly curated experience as you walk around this beautiful town with him. Highly recommended!

🕯️✨ The Sinister Side of Shakespeare’s Stratford Walking Tour ✨🕯️ Tonight we explored Stratford-upon-Avon… but not the romantic, postcard-perfect one 😈 Instead of sonnets and swans, we stepped into a world of mystery, plague, ghosts, and grisly tales. Our guide led us through dimly lit streets, revealing the dark secrets hiding behind Tudor walls: 💀 The Plague Years – when Stratford’s narrow lanes echoed with fear, and homes were sealed with a red cross if sickness entered. ⚰️ Murder & Revenge – chilling stories of jealousy, betrayal, and death that could have inspired Shakespeare’s darkest tragedies. 👻 Ghostly Whispers – from the churchyard at Holy Trinity to the haunted corners of old Guildhall, spirits still said to walk by moonlight. 🩸 Dr. John Hall’s “cures” – Shakespeare’s son-in-law and physician, whose questionable remedies were sometimes worse than the illness itself! 🧙‍♀️ Witchcraft & Superstition – tales of accused witches, dark omens, and charms once buried beneath Stratford’s doorsteps. 🌊 The River’s Toll – where tragedy struck those who found a watery end beneath the calm reflection of the Avon. It was eerie, fascinating, and oddly funny at times — the perfect mix of history, theatre, and ghost story 🎭 Who knew that this peaceful town hides such sinister secrets beneath its Shakespearean charm? 🌙 📍 The Sinister Side of Shakespeare’s Stratford Walking Tour – highly recommended for anyone who loves history with a chill and a chuckle 😉 #StratfordUponAvon #SinisterShakespeare #GhostWalk #HistoryWithATwist #HauntedEngland #TravelWithBabs #NightTour #SpookyStories
