I greatly enjoyed visiting, even though my timing was awful as I entered right after a big bus tour arrived. I did a self tour. Entrance is $13 so very doable and worth it. It’s pretty amazing to see what people did back then, the way they lived and built shelter. Might be worth hiring a guide to explain some of the chambers and what they were intended for, but I think you can easily get that info online. Highly recommend visiting as this is not something you see everywhere.

must see! I recommend having a guide to explain the details, because even if there is a sign saying "kitchen", many things are not obvious. (for a green tour that takes 8+ hours: transport, guide, lunch, tickets, you can pay 50-70 euro/pers). The tunnels are quite tight, if you have anxiety about this or if you are very tall or ...large, this might be an issue. i dont think anyone can get stuck, but it can feel weird, especially if it is crowded. And watch your step, there are many ventilation holes on the floor, big enough for a foot to slide through + the glass floor parts are super slippery.

Kaymakli Underground City is absolutely fascinating and a must-visit in Cappadocia! The moment you step inside, you’re transported back in time — walking through the tunnels and rooms where ancient people once lived, cooked, and stored food is an incredible experience. The architecture and ventilation system are mind-blowing, considering it was built thousands of years ago. It’s amazing how well-preserved everything is, and exploring the different levels gives you a real sense of how entire communities survived underground. The guide was very informative and made the history come alive. If you visit, wear comfortable shoes and be ready to bend a little through the tunnels — it’s totally worth it! A truly unique and unforgettable experience that showcases the genius of ancient engineering.

Very interesting place and not as crowded as Derinkuyu. There's a circuit established so that people coming out don't interfere with those getting in. If you need to see one I recommend this one. Derinkuyu has more levels (18) as opposed to this one with only 9

This place is amazing! Big underground city which have served people for over 2800 years. You get to see top 4 floors with numerous rooms, storages and passages. Temperature is stable at approx 18-20 degrees. Unfortunately there is nearly no information about the rooms, so you should do some reading online in advance or you can go for a guided tour (we were offered one for 65€ for 4 people, which I believe is a lot).
