Prison Island Tour

Join us for a memorable half day trip to Prison Island, a scenic boat ride departing from the shores of Stone Town, taking you just 5 km away to the beautiful island. Once on the island, you’ll explore its fascinating history, including the iconic prison built in 1893, which was originally used to house violent criminals from the mainland and those suffering from diseases. Today, the prison has been transformed into a hotel, adding a unique twist to the island’s history.

The highlight of your visit will be a stop at the tortoise sanctuary, home to a large colony of giant tortoises that were imported from the Seychelles in the late 19th century. These incredible creatures can weigh up to 200 kg and are believed to be over 150 years old. You'll have the rare opportunity to touch and photograph these ancient tortoises, offering a truly unforgettable experience. The island is also home to a vibrant colony of beautiful peacocks, adding to the island's charm.

For the remainder of the trip, you can either enjoy the rich marine life as you snorkel around the coral reefs that encircle the island, or simply relax on the pristine beach under the warm sun.
