Our tour was nothing but amazing, and we must thank our guide Rodrigo Cat, who is of Mayan heritage. He gave us an unforgettable tour of Chichen Itza. His knowledge, passion, and the way he explained the history and culture were truly outstanding. You could really feel his connection to the place, which made the experience even more authentic and meaningful. Gustavo, the driver, was great. We made a really far distance and all was smooth and calm. We could take a good nap on the way. We had lunch in an authentic Mayan place. The food was great and the people really kind. After, was Cenote time. The place was really beautiful, the water was refreshing but not cold and we had a really great time. If you book this ride, make sure Rodrigo is your guide and take the 5am time. Is worth it!

Excursion: Chichen Itza, Cenote Chichikan & Valladolid We booked this tour hoping to experience the cultural and historical richness of Chichen Itza, Cenote Chichikan, and Valladolid. Booking via: GetYourGuide Date of Experience: Oct. 2025 Before booking with Amigo Tours, I highly recommend reading the details carefully and preparing for hidden or additional costs. After placing the order, we encountered extra charges for hotel pickup, entering the hotel area, driver tips (“happiness baskets”), beverages, and other minor “fees.” There was also consistent pressure to “support the local population” in various ways, which felt more like a sales tactic than a cultural exchange. Transport: Our driver, Carlos, operated the vehicle safely and professionally. The bus was generally comfortable, though the seats were quite tight. Safety: In the morning and by the end of the day, we had to transfer into smaller vehicles, and the driver of the second vehicle appeared unfamiliar with the area and unsure of where each hotel was located. He even had to stop for gasoline during the trip and was using his phone while driving, which was concerning. We returned to our hotel very late at night, making an already long day even more exhausting. Organization: Raves was responsible for checking tickets and processing payments. Unfortunately, we couldn’t download our PDF voucher due to a lack of internet access. When we politely asked if he could share a hotspot briefly so we could retrieve it, he refused—twice. Tour Structure & Content: The tour was poorly balanced in timing. We had traveled a long distance primarily to see Chichen Itza, one of the most important historical sites in Mexico, yet we were only given two hours there. In contrast, a disproportionate amount of time was dedicated to the Cenote Chichican, which felt more like a shopping detour than a genuine cultural experience. Guide Experience: Our guide, Alberto (Beto), had a good sense of humor and made efforts to engage the group. However, the overall commentary was overwhelming and focused mainly on marketing and selling products rather than providing meaningful historical or cultural context. There was no clear overview of the day’s schedule, timing, or locations we would visit. While the initial part of his talk was interesting, it soon turned into a series of commercial pitches and stories about local cuisine, minerals, and “unique traditions” meant to encourage purchases. Tour Content: Cenote Chichikan Much of what was presented as “authentic” seemed staged for tourists. Locals performing rituals or selling crafts appeared more like actors hired for effect, rather than genuine cultural representatives. The souvenir shop prices were extremely high. While I respect and value Mexican culture deeply, these practices felt unethical and misleading. Finally, we were told that tequila tasting was mandatory before reboarding the bus, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. At Chichen Itza, we had only about two hours, which was insufficient to explore such an important site. The guide, Beno, provided some interesting facts and humor, but more structured overview and in-depth historical explanation would have been welcomed. The rain made exploration even more difficult but that was a side effect. In Valladolid, we were given just 25 minutes, enough to walk around the square, but the guide dismissed the city as having “nothing to see” beyond the main square. This is simply not true—Valladolid has many historical and cultural sites worth visiting, including other cenotes far more beautiful than the one on our itinerary. Overall Impression: The excursion had potential, but the focus and time allocated to commercial stops, and staged “local experiences” overshadowed the beauty and history of the destinations. The two most important destination were not given sufficient time and attention. I hope Amigo Tours reconsiders its approach to prioritize transparency, authentic cultural sharing, and respect for travelers’ time and money.

Pastor & Tomás did a wonderful job, and the driver was very safe! Everything was well worth the money and time. A great experience at Chichen Itza, Chichikan Cenote, and a visit to a Mexican city park where you can get delicious lime sorbet. Highly recommend!

I recently had my first experience with this tour agency, and overall, it was quite positive. Frank, our tour guide, along with Omar and Ivan, our driver, were very friendly and approachable. Frank demonstrated a deep understanding of the Maya culture and provided thorough explanations throughout the tour. I would recommend this agency for anyone interested in learning more about this fascinating culture, while also enjoying a comfortable travel experience.ing of the Maya culture and provided thorough explanations throughout the tour. My family and I just returned from a 7-day trip to Mexico for my mom's birthday, and this was our second excursion of our exciting adventure. Charlie, Pastor, and Arturo made the entire experience so memorable. Please be prepared because it’ll be a long day ahead, approx. 13 hours, but incredibly well worth it! We paid for the VIP All-Inclusive option, which included: pickup/dropoff, tequila tasting, admission for both sites, life vest and locker rental at the Cenote, plus the buffet lunch and drinks (excluding alcohol). Since we were a large group, Arturo and Pastor divided themselves into two groups (English speakers and Spanish speakers) to ensure everyone was able to understand and enjoy the guided tours. You’ll have plenty of time at all the locations, being three in total, which were: Chichikan Cenote, Chichen Itza, and Valladolid. On the way to the Chichikan Cenote, Chichen Itza, and Valladolid; Arturo shared with us the rich and the still very much alive Mayan culture, explaining every detail with such beautiful passion. We learned Mayan words to show our respect within the community, as well as their number system, and the rich resources turned into tools around them. As a history lover, I was absolutely over the moon understanding how they communicated, how they kept count, how deeply entwined nature and man are, along with the intricate tools they’d use to excel in any craft. Arturo debunked common myths and shed light of the truth behind these myths leading to mind-blowing realizations. I was hanging off every word and it was truly fascinating to soak everything in. If you’re looking for an experience raw with culture and passion, please check this tour out! Arturo, Pastor, and Charlie are the best of the best, and I know I’ll be seeing them again soon! Yuum bootik Arturo, Pastor, and Charlie! Tupananchiskama 🖤
