The Reggia di Venaria, a UNESCO World Heritage site located just a few kilometers from the heart of Turin, is a magnificent example of royal grandeur. Founded in the 1600s, it was originally conceived as a luxurious retreat for leisure and hunting, where the kings of the House of Savoy hosted lavish banquets, elegant parties, and participated in elaborate hunting rituals.
The tour of the palace will take you on a journey through its rich history, starting in the basement rooms, which once served as warehouses and kitchens. Here, you'll uncover fascinating stories, curiosities, and anecdotes about the House of Savoy and its royal ancestors.
As you ascend to the main floor, you’ll be immersed in the stunning beauty of the Baroque period. Admire the intricate stucco work, frescoes, and sculptures that adorn the rooms, as well as the small architectural gems that make this palace a masterpiece. The Reggia di Venaria is a residence of unparalleled elegance, rivaling some of Europe’s most renowned palaces, offering a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the past.

Staff was helpful, tickets worth the price for us. You can spend a whole day in here : it's got informative exhibitions (didn't know how influential/powerful the Savoys were), beautiful rooms and a huge and quiet garden.

Reggia di Venaria Castle in Turin, a stunning example of Baroque architecture, captivates visitors with its grandeur and intricate design. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, the castle offers a serene escape from the bustling city. Inside, the opulent rooms are adorned with exquisite frescoes and lavish furnishings that reflect the royal history of the Savoy dynasty. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it not only showcases Italy's rich cultural heritage but also serves as a venue for art exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year.

Definitly a must do! A bit far from the center of Torino but it is so worth it. Plan the day to visit because there is a lot to see. You can easily spend 2h/2h30 in the palace and 2h in the gardens if you explore every area (there is also a little train). The estate is huge and the renovation work that has been done to preserve and restore it is amazing. You learn a lot about the history of the castle, the royal families that ruled and the conquests they unfolded. When I visited the palace, there was some work going on in some parts, so the entrance ticket that day was 8 euros for the palace and the gardens, which was a very nice additionning surprise!

I recommend. We visited just the gardens, it takes you about 4-5h, I recomand, but we visited in 2023 at 36 degrees Celsius, and it was torture, but in 2025 at 24 degrees, it was beautiful, the gardens are very big, we didn't manage to visit every garden, if you want a good walk, it's recomanded. Be careful, on Saturdays the last train(tour, 5€ adults) is at 12:30, and the next oan is at 3 pm. Also, I was absolutely eaten by mosquitoes, so I recommend spraying a anti-isect spray before going in the gardens. The ice cream shop in the rise garden was not open.

Wonderful palace not very far from the city. The gardens are beautiful and really nice to walk around and take pictures. There is also an art exhibition that had some amazing pieces. The palace it self is quite big and has a lot of rooms that feel somewhat empty, I think they could utilize some more items and show them at their respective rooms. We also got the audio guide but we didn't really use it after all so I wouldn't recommend it that much. Overall really beautiful and worth visiting.
