A full-day Elephant Jungle Sanctuary experience offers visitors a unique opportunity to get to know each of the elephants and gain insight into their daily lives and behaviors. Set in a densely forested mountainous region surrounded by lush jungle scenery, the sanctuary provides a safe, sustainable, and freely roamed environment for the elephants. Guests are picked up from their accommodation in Chiang Mai and travel approximately one and a half hours through scenic agricultural countryside, catching glimpses of local rural life. Upon arrival, an English-speaking guide introduces visitors to the sanctuary, its elephants, and the local culture. Guests are dressed in traditional Karen clothing, provided with bananas and sugarcane for feeding, and then have the chance to meet, touch, play with, feed, and photograph each elephant while learning about their individual personalities and unique histories. A traditional Thai lunch with fresh fruit is served midway through the day, offering a delightful break before reconnecting with the elephants.
The afternoon is filled with immersive and interactive activities that bring visitors even closer to the elephants. Guests walk alongside the elephants to a nearby river to bathe and brush them, enjoying the playful and refreshing water together. Following the river bath, participants join the elephants in a therapeutic mud spa, covering them in a protective layer of mud and engaging in joyful, hands-on interaction. Afterward, guests can rinse off in the river or enjoy a relaxing swim before changing back into their clothes. The day concludes with the scenic drive back to Chiang Mai, passing through picturesque rural landscapes in the soft glow of the afternoon sun, leaving visitors with unforgettable memories and a deep appreciation for the elephants and the sanctuary’s ethical conservation practices.
