The cave part of the name is a little disappointing, but the site in itself is breathtaking. From walking around a pond of Lotus Flowers (unfortunately no longer blooming when we were there, but that is a timing issue) to climbing up to the viewpoint (plenty of benches along the way so you don’t have to do the steep climb in one go) the scenery looked like a painting. Plenty of coffee shops at the foot of the mountain to rest before or after the climb.

If you’re heading to Ninh Binh, Mua Caves (Hang Múa) is an absolute must-visit! This place is more than just a scenic spot — it’s a full nature + adventure experience. 🏞️ I climbed the 500 stone steps up to the famous Lying Dragon Mountain, and wow… totally worth every breath! The view from the top is unreal — endless rice fields, Tam Coc river winding through the mountains, and panoramic limestone cliffs that look straight out of a postcard. 😍🐉 What I loved: ✔️ The iconic dragon statue at the summit ✔️ Stunning sunrise/sunset views ✔️ Peaceful nature vibes away from the busy cities ✔️ Perfect photo spots everywhere 📸 Tips for future travelers: • Go early to avoid the heat & crowd. • Wear comfy shoes — the steps are steep! • Bring water. Trust me. 😅 • Pair this trip with Tam Coc or Trang An for the full Ninh Binh experience. Overall, Mua Caves is one of the best viewpoints in Vietnam and definitely a highlight of my Ninh Binh adventure. Highly recommended! 🌄🇻🇳

Come here if you love a good exercise with a scenic ending followed by another exercise in careful descent. The so-called 500 steps are uneven in size and height. But my watch said at least 2000 steps at the end of the descent. Nothing interesting aside from the scenery and the fat burn.

This will save you a day doing legs at the gym due to the steep stairs (and high humidity). Lovely views, it got terribly crowded at the top. Try go very early to avoid the congestion of people. It got a bit uncomfortable at the top with people pushing in while people were queuing to get to the top, causing lots of annoyance and upsets. To reach the actual dragon you will need to do a bit of climbing for the last few metres. Late afternoon/early evening gives lovely sunset views and at sunset everything is lit up. There was a fabulous restaurant we visited afterwards on the same road called Moc coffee (drink & restaurant) great food, decent prices and wholesome hospitality can definitely recommend.

This place is absolutely worth a visit! The entrance ticket is around 100,000 VND per person, and the area is well maintained. The views from the upper level are stunning and truly rewarding. Be prepared though—the stairs are quite steep and can be slippery, even during dry weather, so wear proper shoes. The hike to the top can be quite tiring, especially in the hot weather, but once you reach the viewpoint, the breathtaking scenery makes it all worthwhile. It’s a perfect spot for photos and enjoying the natural beauty of Ninh Binh from above. Highly recommended if you’re visiting the area—just go early or late in the day to avoid the heat.
