It’s one of those places that actually lives up to the hype. We visited on a sunny afternoon and the scale of it is just unreal—massive, layered, and full of history. The guided tour helped bring the whole gladiator vibe to life, but even just walking through on your own is impressive. The underground section and upper levels are worth the extra ticket if you want the full experience. It can get crowded, so early morning or late afternoon is best. Definitely a must-see if you’re in Rome, even if you’re not a history buff.

The Colosseum is one of those places that leaves you speechless — no matter how many times you’ve seen it in photos, standing in front of it is a completely different experience. Walking through the arches, you can feel the weight of history. It’s not just ruins — it’s a living reminder of centuries of culture, architecture, and stories. The scale is massive, and it’s hard to believe it was built nearly 2,000 years ago. Tips for travelers: • Buy tickets in advance online — the lines can get long. • Guided tours are worth it if you want context and access to areas like the underground or arena floor. • Bring comfortable shoes; there’s a lot of walking on uneven stone. • Visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon for fewer crowds and softer light for photos. Even after exploring inside, it’s worth circling around at sunset — the Colosseum seems to glow as the sky changes colors. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance and joining a guided tour to really understand the history and hidden details. The experience is unforgettable, especially when you stand in the middle and look up at the tiers of seats that once held tens of thousands of spectators. A visit to Rome wouldn’t be complete without the Colosseum. It’s powerful, historic, and simply unforgettable.
