Akihabara is a must-see destination for fans of anime, gaming, and Japanese subculture. While the area is packed with fascinating stores and unique experiences, it can be overwhelming to navigate on your own, especially with crowded maid cafés that often require reservations. With an anime enthusiast guide, you'll be able to explore Akihabara efficiently and visit shops that specialize in rare and popular anime merchandise. Whether you're hunting for English versions of manga, retro games, or collectibles, your guide will help you uncover hidden gems and make the most of your time.

One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to a maid café, an iconic part of Akihabara culture. These cafés are the epitome of Japanese "kawaii" culture, offering an entertaining and immersive experience into the world of "moe" cuteness. Your guide will help you enjoy this unique tradition comfortably and understand its cultural significance. To wrap up your Akihabara adventure, you'll take a group photo at a Purikura (Print Club) booth—a fun and fitting way to capture memories of your subculture journey in one of Tokyo’s most electric neighborhoods.

A very large anime store but the only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the amount of English manga they didn’t have. I understand since it is Japan it is common to have it in store but I hope more in the future for a larger variety of English manga in the store. Another thing was that merchandise of characters or different types of anime was that there wasn’t much. There was only one floor of merchandise and not much variety once again. The staff was very helpful overall and I enjoyed looking around.

If you’re into anime, it’s illegal NOT to visit this place. Will find few shops that are very cheap for what you’re getting. Awesome place

A big two-building Animate that is definitely worth a visit. The right side is manga and artbooks (and, at least for now, a Square Enix fan floor), the left side is figurines, soundtracks and such. They are only connected on the ground floor, mind. If you are into popular series, you likely find something of interest here!

Can be a little hard to figure out because it has two sides, but it has a ton of merchandise you might not find elsewhere. Definitely one of the top anime merch stores in Akihabara. A bit pricey, but within reason.

There are two distinct characters to the Animate Akihabara building. On the corner by the gacha machines is all the manga you could ever want across 6 floors (yes, including an adult section near the top). In the next section are all the character merchandise, including special event sections. Pro tip is to take the elevator to the top and work your way down the stairs to each level. Happy hunting.
