Authentic Kimono Experience Brings Traditional Japanese Culture to Life in Yanaka

A cultural experience in Tokyo’s historic Yanaka district is offering visitors an immersive journey into traditional Japanese heritage through the art of kimono dressing and guided exploration. The 2.5-hour program blends hands-on cultural learning with photography and sightseeing in one of the city’s most atmospheric neighbourhoods.

The experience begins with participants selecting from a curated collection of over 50 authentic kimonos and yukatas, including finely crafted silk garments designed in traditional styles. With the assistance of expert hosts, guests are fully dressed and prepared with accessories such as obi belts and decorative umbrellas, ensuring an authentic presentation of classical Japanese attire.

Once dressed, participants embark on a guided walking tour through Yanaka’s historic streets, where they are introduced to cultural etiquette, including proper walking techniques, sitting posture, and behavioural customs associated with wearing a kimono.
