We booked the tour, wine tasting and fado performance. Our guide Henrique was enthusiastic and presented us with such in-depth knowledge on Fonseca’s port wines. The fado performers gave us a beautiful and touching show. The price is great for this experience!
I booked wine tasting with dinner - prepaid. They cancelled it a few days before my reservation - because of a private event in the same day. Since my days are planned - because of short term visit- I coulnd’t reschedule it for another day. Instead, I asked recommandation for similar experince Ididn’t get any reply after that. Not professional neither customer oriented. Don’t trust the reservation even if you pay months ago.
Henrique made the experience unforgettable. He was absolutely fantastic!! Knowledgeable, friendly, and full of passion for Fonseca’s history and wines. He brought every glass to life with stories about the Douro Valley and the art of Port making. Our favorite was the 20-Year-Old Tawny — smooth, nutty, perfectly balanced, and simply beautiful. The setting, the people, and the wines made this an experience I’ll never forget. Obrigada, Fonseca! 🍷❤️
The fado part was absolutely fantastic, the three musicians were so passionate and talented. Unfortunately the cellar tour was terrible - the young female guide for our English group spoke very unclearly (not helped by other language groups being around us), rushed through the content extremely quickly, only for us to then wait in the tasting room for a long time for the Portuguese group to arrive. She could definitely have gone through the guided tour properly - the male guide with the Portuguese group did and he seemed so much more enthusiastic.
I didn't have a lot of time but really enjoyed the tour and tasting. The best place to buy Fonseca wine and goodies.
