About this activity
Embark on a captivating journey along the Wild Atlantic Way, where you'll explore Ireland's Cliffs of Moher, one of its most iconic and breathtaking landmarks. After being picked up in Galway, you'll travel through the rugged western coastline, passing by harbors, farms, medieval ruins, and ancient graveyards. The first stop is Dunguaire Castle, a picturesque and frequently photographed castle near Kinvara. From there, the tour takes you through the glacio-karst landscape of the Burren, a UNESCO Global Geopark, and past the remarkable 12th-century Corcomroe Abbey, known for its intricate carvings and rich ornamentation.
As you continue along the Wild Atlantic Way, you'll enjoy stunning views of Fanore’s golden beach and the Black Head lighthouse, which stands proudly on the limestone of the Burren region. On a clear day, you will also spot the three Aran Islands—Inishmore, Inishmann, and Inisheer—dotted across Galway Bay, with the majestic Connemara mountains rising in the distance. A photo stop at Doolin pier offers a chance to experience the raw power of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the shoreline, where the wind and the waves create an unforgettable atmosphere. During summer, a cruise to the base of the Cliffs of Moher is available (cruise not included), allowing you to view the cliffs from a new perspective.
The highlight of the tour is a two-hour stop at the Cliffs of Moher, where you can explore the pathways and take in the dramatic views. Rising 214 meters above the Atlantic Ocean, the cliffs are home to over 60,000 nesting seabirds, including the iconic puffins, which can be spotted from April to July. The visitor center at the Cliffs offers a range of interactive exhibits and displays, showcasing the geology, wildlife, and human history of the area. After exploring, you can enjoy a relaxing visit to the award-winning eco-friendly center, which offers a café, restaurant, and gift shops before returning to Galway, completing your unforgettable Wild Atlantic Way adventure.
