About this activity
We start from Killarney to Adare where we stop for a short 30-minute coffee break so you will have some time to admire the charming village, founded in the 13th Century, it overlooks the fording point of the River Maigue from which the village derives its meaning “The Ford of the Oak” (Áth Dara). Located just 18 kilometres south-west of Limerick city, the village is widely renowned as one of the most beautiful in Ireland. From Adare, we will be heading to Bunratty Castle (60 minutes drive) a large 15th-century tower house in County Clare, Ireland³. It is one of the most complete and authentic medieval castles in Ireland. Visit the castle, which has four towers, a great hall, a dungeon, and a chapel. You can explore the different rooms and admire the 15th and 16th century furnishings, tapestries, and artworks that capture the mood of the medieval times⁴. See the Bunratty Collection, which is the finest collection of medieval furniture in the country. It includes the famous Bunratty Throne and the Golden Vale Mace, which are symbols of the power and wealth of the Earls of Thomond². Walk at the Bunratty Folk Park, which is a 26-acre park that recreates a 19th century Irish village and rural setting. You can see various buildings, such as farmhouses, cottages, shops, a school, a church, and a pub. You can also interact with the costumed characters who demonstrate traditional crafts and skills¹. After admiring the charm of the castle we will be heading to the Cliffs of Moher ( 1h drive) one of the most famous and beautiful natural attractions in Ireland. They are located on the west coast of County Clare, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
